Kool Kap Gas Bags®

KOOLKAP® Gas bags are a self-inflating bag that, when activated and lowered or dropped down a hole, will seal off the hole giving you an effective deck for loading explosives and/or stemming.

They save you time and money. When using air decking for pre-splits, you can significantly reduce your use of explosives.

You’ll also reduce noise and ground vibration, backbreak and backshatter by reducing excessive powder factors. You can also use gas bags to block off wet and dewatered holes, eliminating the need for using expensive and lesseffective emulsions. They are also great for standing off coal beds to stop coal shock and for decking holes that have varying layers of rock hardness, so you don’t waste energy on already soft ground.

KOOLKAP® Gas Bags have the lowest failure rate of any gas bags on the market. A failure costs you time and money and increases the risk of injury. The patented activator cap cools during operation, reducing misfire and making them ideal for both hot and cool conditions.


KOOLKAP® Gas Bags have a surface failure rate of less than 1%, andwe are constantly striving for 0%. They have a 99.5% in hole inflationsuccess rate.

KOOLKAP® Gas Bags have been tested in the Colorado winter, and up to 65⁰C in the Australian summer, making them ideal for allconditions.

Standard
Our classic, environmental award winning gas bags. These tough and dependable bags are the template on which all our Koolkap® products are based. With over a decade in the field and improvements based on customer feedback the Koolkap bags lead the way in decking.
Duo
For flexibility in timing the Duo can be activated in the upright or upside down positions to give you two distinctly different inflation times. MORE INFORMATION.

High Temperature
With a specially formulated mixture in the aerosol and protective outer bag we have 2 high temperature bags. The yellow banded 80 - 100⁰C and the red banded 100 - 120⁰C.

Testing
Along with environmental sustainability we know that safety is the biggest priority on any mine. It’s something we take very seriously and we test our products to extreme lengths that far exceed what they should face in the field.
Load Testing
With the use of a hydraulic press and a simulated bore hole (we use a concrete lined sleeve) we compression test our bags with up to 13 metric tons of force. We do this to test the bag’s integrity and also to check for slippage. For more information on our Load Testing please follow the link. For video of the testing click here.
Australian Standards Testing
To ensure we comply with the latest Australian Standards for aerosols (ADG7) we test all formulations of our bags to make sure we maintain our class 2.2 Non-Flammable rating.
Quality Control
Our in-house "quality control systems” have been put in place to minimise chance for onsite failures.
1. Batch number’s for both the aerosols and bag manufacture are kept on file for every bag made.
2. Retention samples for each pallet are made and kept for a period of 12 months
3. Quality samples from each batch are tested for inflation and are approved during the manufacturing of each pallet.
4. Routine integrity seal tests are done on the bags from each sealing machine to make sure seals conform with each batch made daily.
5. Final packaging labeling and inspection is done by the Supervisor and signed off for each pallet sent.

KOOL KAP® GAS BAGS USE SELF-REGULATING TECHNOLOGY TO EXPAND AND FIT FIRMLY INTO ANY HOLE. THIS MEANS LESS SLIPPAGE PROBLEMS.


Holes are not perfectly cylindrical. They differ internally in shape and form and this has meant that other brands of Gas Bags have been prone to slippage as the aerosol is expended within the bag.

Kool Kap® gas Bags utilise a patented anti-slippage mechanism that means your Gas Bags will deform and brace within non-uniform holes.

Kool Kap® Gas Bags self-regulate the expansion process by liberating vapour from the bottom of the bag during the final stages of inflation. This means that because of its constant pressure, the bag reaches a state of dynamic equilibrium allowing it to contort to the shape of any hole, thereby providing a good tight fit and avoiding slippage problems.
